This is a very important message from the lovely Kate Nash. I feel as though spoken word does not get enough publicity at all these days, so it was a breath of fresh air to hear it featured in this song. It very powerfully gets the message across - promoting as Kate says self respect among women.

So everybody loves tumblr. I'll admit, it's great for art ideas, decoration, style ideas, and just generally things which are nice to look at. But tumblr, like many social networks, also has a dark side. As many of you who use tumblr already know there is some unusual pages, which is good, it's always nice to see variety in blogs and there is something for everyone. Although, there is some pages on tumblr which are perhaps indulgent, and encouraging the wrong things. Some that I have seen include pro-self harm pages, pro ana/mia (ana being anorexia and mia being bulimia). pages, which is frankly disgraceful. Recently I found this page, which has the same concept as post secret, where you share a secret about your eating disorder, self harm problems or anything else. Luis Quiles, Social Media and Sexism

Luis' work popped up on my tumblr newsfeed a while back and I really loved it. I'm always fascinated by things which seem shocking and offensive but Luis' work evidently has a much deeper purpose. Undoubtedly his work is shocking but offers a very interesting critique of society and modern cultural phenomenons.  I've recently being covering some interesting material on biopolitics, a Foucaltian idea. Whereby an individual is governed by a variety of different things such as media, technologies, educations etc. By governed I mean regulated or controlled so to speak.
