Today I'm Listening To: Girl Band

Upon a recommendation from a good friend I recently discovered a local band. I'm horribly out of touch with local/Irish bands the last (good) few years, honestly it has been too long. But nonetheless, I eventually found this incredible punk inspired band from Dublin. With their undoubtedly bizarre but fascinating videos, this is Girl Band.

I have been meaning to publish this post for an age, I really mean an age. A long time ago myself and my dear friend Fionn decided to visit some of Dublin's more quaint cafes to pick some of our favorite and find some new ones.  I attended a poetry slam in The Chocolate Factory a few weeks before getting to Blas, where I heard it was a lovely cafe during the day. Needless to say I've a soft spot for poetry, spoken word and my home town, a combination of all three was just magical and inspiring. You can't help but feel a little patriotic, if you can be patriotic about a city? As acknowledges on Youtube, Stephen James Smith  recites a beautiful poem by Louis Mac Neice depicting the wonders of Dublin. Giving a myriad of reasons to come and explore. I don't know anything about Louis unfortunately. However Stephen presented at Lingo Festival one of the nights I attended and was wonderful. Worth checking out for any of you based in Dublin.
