Introducing The Cobra Snake

Image
I was listening to the old classic 'Good Girls Go Bad' by Cobra Starship and I recalled this photographer I discovered around the time. His photography is predominantly from parties with lots of famous and beautiful faces.  This is The Cobra Snake . I wanted to share some of his photos!

And Be Impressed, By The Better Sex.

This is a very important message from the lovely Kate Nash. I feel as though spoken word does not get enough publicity at all these days, so it was a breath of fresh air to hear it featured in this song. It very powerfully gets the message across - promoting as Kate says self respect among women. I figured I would try to get a video of Kate performing it rather than just a photo of the album cover. Apologies if it isn't the best quality.

Today, I'm Listening To: Hoizer

Image
It has been forever since I've posted anything on this as I've been extremely preoccupied with college work. There's been a lot of hype surrounding this new and emerging talent that is Hozier. I hadn't really managed to find the time to listen however recently I've been listening to his album on Spotify. I must say it is a rather remarkable debut album which has a wonderfully sophisticated sound with hints of nostalgic love ballads and influence of blues music. I would like to share the video for "Take Me To Church." I was really struck by the lyrics in this song which convey a relationship with a woman as being a type of religious worship. The video however deals with the issue of homophobia. It is beautifully filmed and portrays the story of two lovers and the hardships so precisely in the space of 4 minutes. I have to tip my hat at such an achievement.

Lush Fresh Face Masks - Top 5

Image
This is a post I've been wanting to do for a long long time. I'm a huge fan of Lush Cosmetics for a number of reasons; their products are fresh and actually work, the staff are always incredible and it's a company with what I believe to be all the right values. My skin would generally be relatively normal but prone to becoming dry and occasionally a break out when I've not been looking after it. When this happens I tend to pop into Lush ASAP for one of their lovely face masks. Below is a list of my Top 5 face masks and the reasons why! (For those who are interested I would usually use these anywhere from two to three times a week). 5. Cosmetic Warrior This I think was one of the first ones I ever tried. A lot of people seem to be put off by it because it's garlic. But don't be! This one is another great one for those panic break outs where you need a quick fix. Similarly to Catastrophe Cosmetic it can be a tad drying on your skin but it does the j...

Beauty and The Blogger

Image
Recently there has been a lot of hype around the blogger  Zoella  after an article by  Charlotte Hamilton  was released on Tuesday. To summarise, very briefly, Chloe suggests that Zoella is not a good role model for young teenage girls due to her providing tutorial videos for teenage girls on how to do make up, hauls on what products to buy and so on, thus Chloe evidently felt that Zoella saying "girls should not fret about their appearance" is contradictory. I'd like to make it clear that I'm not on either side of this argument, it just raises a rather interesting debate I think. A lot of things I post on my blog particularly are very "serious" I suppose, truthfully I would love to publish more beauty related things but I'm conscious that it may come across as contradictory since a lot of posts deal with feminism, body issues and serious topics like this. I suppose more broadly this raises issues of feminism and beauty. Are you expected to...

Size Shaming - Happening In ALL Shapes and Sizes.

Image
Undoubtedly the female body is something which is everywhere and an issue of controversy for a lot of reasons. Though I think a lot of people don't consider the "reasons" for the controversy or criticism. Needless to say unfortunately most women and young girls are unhappy with their body, which to me is worrying and also very upsetting. I'm not suggesting that there is an ideal body for a woman at all. What I am hoping to shed some light on however, is that no matter what size or shape you are, all female body types are experiencing criticism and scrutiny. Most significantly, women are the contributing massively to this - thus we can change it somehow. Smaller Women. A while ago I read a post on  Leanne Woodfull 's blog about how skinny girls are getting heavily criticised, at the time I recall being confused and dismissing it, but it's an extremely valid argument. Unquestionably as a result of the fashion industry, largely, smaller/skinner body sizes ...
